Minor injuries reported after crash between semi and pickup in Riga

RIGA TWP. — Only minor injuries resulted from a crash between a semi-tractor and a pickup in Riga Township Friday afternoon at the intersection of Rodesiler Highway and Stadler Road.

According to a police report from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated the crash, Raymond Smith, 62, of Ottawa Lake, was driving a double axle tractor-trailer westbound on Stadler Road, when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Ford F-350 pickup.

The pickup rolled on its side as a result of the impact, but both of its occupants had minor injuries and were later driven to a hospital for treatment by family members.

Smith was issued a citation for failure to yield.
